NRA Home Firearm Safety

The NRA Home Firearm Safety Class is the class we recommend to anyone that is unfamiliar with firearms or who would like to learn firearm terminology. This is a great way for a person to start in the shooting sports. This is also an excellent class for anyone that hasn’t had formal training on the safe use and storage of firearms and ammunition.

Class Goal

The NRA Home Firearm Safety Class is designed to present the basic knowledge, skills and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling, and storing of guns in the home. Students will receive pamphlets on firearms safety and will learn the rules of safe gun handling, identifying and unloading various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and their storage. Students will also receive hands-on experience with common types of handguns, rifles and shotguns.

Class Size

Our class size is limited to a maximum of 12 students.

Prerequisites

The only prerequisites for taking this class, are to be a United States citizen of good character who can legally own and possess a firearm. Just arrive with an open mind, a smile on your face, a positive attitude and ready to learn.

Each Student will be required to sign a statement of legal eligibility to participate in this course of instruction. Stating you are a United States citizen, not under a court order prohibiting you from owning, using, possessing or handling firearms; or are not disqualified or prohibited under any local, state or federal law from owning, using, possessing or handling firearms; or any knowledge, skills, techniques, responses, abilities or other information learned as a result of any training received will be used in an illegal manner.

Class Completion

Upon successful completion of this course of instruction, students will receive a class completion certificate.
There is no final test for this class.

Additional Information

How long does this class last?
– Approximately 4 hours.

 

Who may take this class?
– Any United States citizen who can legally own and possess a firearm.

 

We do require that anyone under age 18 take the class with a parent or legal guardian. We strongly urge any parent who’s child is going through this course of instruction attend as well. If your children want to learn how to safely handle firearms, you should too!

 

Does this class have a textbook?
– Yes. Each student will be provided with the NRA “Home Firearm Safety” handbook.

 

Do I need to own a pistol to take this class?
– No. Just sign up, show up and we’ll provide everything you will need to take the class.

 

How much pistol ammunition should I bring?
– We have a requirement of 100 rounds of ammunition for this course of instruction

 

Do I need to bring eye and ear protection to this class?
– No. There is no shooting during this class.
